Parramatta Leagues Club

Since its opening in 1959, Parramatta Leagues Club (PLC) has been an iconic venue providing entertainment and leisure services to the local community and being a focal point for the continued far-reaching support of the Parramatta Eels NRL Club.

PLC, incorporating the Parramatta Leagues Club and Vikings Sports Club, is the parent organisation that owns Parramatta Eels. Leadership is separate, and each company operates relatively autonomously. PLC focuses on hospitality, leisure, and entertainment, along with community serving functions. PLC is the largest provider of funding in the Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA). The Club provides over $1m in funding to the local community and grassroots sports per year. Despite COVID-19 in 2020 PLC were able to donate to over 60 local community groups, injecting over $800,000 through club grants. PLC is a large employer with over 200 staff and is a key player in the redevelopment and continued progression of Greater Sydney, particularly by public sector stakeholders including the Greater Sydney Commission. Membership reached a record 52,359 as of October 2020.

The Position

As part of a renewed strategic plan, Parramatta Leagues Club (PLC) is seeking a new CEO to help realise its ambitious growth plans and commitment to providing a network of premium hospitality, entertainment, sporting and other complementary offerings for the benefit of the local community by 2025.

This leader will bring deep experience gained from the Australian hospitality, leisure, gaming, sport or community club industries and steer the business through its next phase of innovative growth. Ultimately, this CEO will be responsible for: Business Leadership & Growth; Brand Ambassador & Reputational Management; and Governance & Compliance.

Working with the Executive Committee and Reporting to the Chair and the Board, the ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Proven Chief Executive Officer, General Manager, Managing Director or COO with the ability to lead a diverse team; capacity to work with a skills-based Board.
  • Solid track record of operational and financial management with full P&L accountability.
  • Strategic visionary with a growth oriented (organic and inorganic), commercial, and innovative mindset.
  • Ability to bring points of difference in hospitality and entertainment and deliver best in class member/customer experience.
  • Experience in driving community-based activities.
  • Past success working in regulated environments, including gaming and liquor with an appreciation of relevant work health safety and compliance issues; strong compliance and governance orientation.
  • Impactful communicator, who engages well at all levels.
  • Hardworking, energetic, low ego with a passion for providing best in class customer experience.
  • Strong moral and ethical compass.

The role will be based out of the corporate headquarters in Parramatta, NSW.
