This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced barista with experience in front of house (FOH) Customer Service from another food retailer or from the hospitality industry, to join our enthusiastic team.

About the Role ...

An exciting opportunity now exists for a talented Barista to join our Devonport store on a part/full-time basis.

As Barista you will report to the Café Manager and work within the Café Team in a fast-paced role focusing on providing the customer service Hill Street is famous for.

Your day will involve:
Making high quality coffee and serving customers with other food, both take away and dine-in.
Maintaining a high level of professionalism and serving all customers in a timely manner, whilst being polite and courteous, even under pressure.
Welcoming customers, answering their questions, helping them select items, providing recommendations and accepting payment.
Working as part of the café team and assisting in all areas of café operations.
Ensuring the café is always presented at the highest standards of cleanliness and tidiness.

About You ...

You will have a friendly and open attitude, with outstanding communication, and interpersonal skills. You will have extremely good attention to detail and be able to focus on the finer details, such as quality control and presentation of all dishes and drinks being served to customers, while ensuring that you are providing our customers with the best possible café experience.

You must also have a passion for customer service, love working with food and enjoy working in a busy store where you will be part of a multidisciplinary team of retail, hospitality and floristry professionals.

Flexibility to work across our span of hours, over all seven days of the week, some public holidays, and alternate weekends, is also required.

To succeed in this role you will need the following skills and experience:

At least 1 year's experience working as a barista with another food retailer, café or within the hospitality industry.
Excellent communication skills and a high level of competence in written and spoken English.
Strong food and coffee knowledge and a love of food, cooking, nutrition and different cuisines and beverages.
Strong judgement and problem solving skills to resolve and escalate issues and concerns with your CaféManager / Head Chef in a timely manner.
Ability to work within a team environment.
Strong customer service skills including resolving customer complaints.
Acute attention to detail and time management skills.
High level of energy and ability to take direction and initiative.
Demonstrate self-motivation, adaptability, drive, and efficiency.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Possess a growth mindset with the ability to learn from mistakes and continue learning.
Ability to comprehend and follow company procedures and regulations regarding food handling and Workplace Health and Safety.
