Are you a lover of food? Considering a career as a chef?

Maxima are currently looking for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person to undertake an apprenticeship within Commercial Cookery as part of the Adelaide Venue Management (AVM) group.

This opportunity is open and available to those new to cookery and those already within their cookery journey including 2nd and 3rd year apprentices.

AVM manages three of South Australia’s most iconic venues including the Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Entertainment Centre and Coopers Stadium. For many years, AVM have been providing high-class catering and function management to South Australians.

This role will see you working fulltime to gain a nationally recognised Certificate III in Commercial Cookery with paid study, continuous mentoring and hands-on experience. You will be exposed to all areas and stations within the kitchen including pastry, larder, a la carte and more! Gaining you the ability to jump into any specialisation and kickstart your career as a chef.

Duties:

  • Cooking meals for a variety of events, functions across all services
  • Meal preparation
  • Presenting meals in a consistent manner
  • Storing of produce and meals
  • Produce dishes in a timely manner
  • Assistance in menu planning
  • Work as part of a large team in a busy kitchen
  • Cleaning of work areas

Role Requirements:

  • Ability to work across 7-day week
  • Previous experience within kitchen environment
  • Certificate II in Kitchen Operations or similar (preferred)
  • Access to reliable transport
