National Trust of Australia Queensland (NTAQ) is a membership-based community organisation and DGR1 registered charity that works to protect, conserve and celebrate the Environmental, Built and Cultural heritage of our State. NTAQ connects communities through meaningful partnerships. The NTAQ portfolio of properties includes Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Currumbin Wildlife Hospital and ten other properties across Queensland. We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated, and passionate Head of Fundraising with proven ability to lead, grow and strategically manage the fundraising team for the NTAQ. Commencing in July 2021, NTAQ is committed to expanding the scope of fundraising across the organisation to encompass fundraising for the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, Research projects, Education programs, Conservation, threatened species projects and to support our interests regarding cultural and built heritage within Queensland communities.

The most renowned purpose of the NTAQ Fundraising department (previously the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Foundation) is to secure the future of Australia’s wildlife, securing financial commitments to directly fund the National Trust-Currumbin Wildlife Hospital and its vital work treating, rehabilitating, and releasing sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife. Since its creation in 1989, Currumbin Wildlife Hospital has grown to be one of the busiest wildlife hospitals in the world, now treating over 13,000 animals every year. The Hospital relies heavily on community and corporate donations to deliver this important public service.

The successful candidate will have proven ability to effectively lead the newly expanded Fundraising team, develop whole of business fundraising plans, products and activities to generate philanthropic donations from individuals, major donors, corporates and bequestors, including via events.

Details about this Position

Reports directly to the CEO of NTAQ.
This is a full-time salaried position 5 days per week, typically Monday to Friday with flexibility to work variable hours and weekends as required to attend events, fundraising etc.
Attractive salary package on offer. This package will include a performance related bonus of up to 15% of salary after probation.
Located at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, the head office of NTAQ.
Lead a small team which includes fundraising volunteers.

This role will require high levels of creativity and collaboration to ensure NTAQ’s fundraising strategies are innovative.
As a senior leader of and ambassador for NTAQ, the ability to create, develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders is critical to the success of this role.
You will have genuine experience in negotiating government funding agreements.
You will drive and create a culture of ethical and brand compatible partnerships.
Refine policies, protocols and reporting requirements for NTAQ to achieve its intended growth in fundraising revenues.
Work closely with the digital marketing team on digital campaigns and online fundraising.
Oversee and support the Grants Officer and work in collaboration with the government and internal stakeholders to secure funding opportunities for our properties and projects.
Grow philanthropic and sponsorship support from corporate partners and private trusts, with new and existing relationships.
Develop and maintain key relationships with industry groups, supporter groups and the NTAQ Board to promote awareness of the charitable work and projects underway.
Produce monthly reports against budgets and objectives, and other periodic reports as required.

Key Selection Criteria

At least 5 years' experience in a similar role.
Proven experience in developing new business via sponsorship and partnerships.
Demonstrated effective leadership skills to successfully support and supervise a small work team including volunteers.
Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Extensive experience in successful and productive relationship management.
Demonstrated experience in the not-for-profit sector working with partners and sponsors.
Effective planning, research, and organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines and deliver on multiple projects.
Event management experience including planning, delivering and post event de-brief is highly desirable.
High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive data and contractual obligations.
Proficiency in all MS office applications particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Tertiary qualification or formal business training is highly desirable.
Membership of the Fundraising Institute of Australia is desirable.
Will have an interest in wildlife and environmental conservation, animal welfare and built and indigenous heritage.
Will be prepared to act as an effective and professional ambassador for NTAQ.
Media spokesperson skills are desirable.
Must be collaborative, innovative, friendly, and have a flexible, positive, and ‘can-do’ attitude.
Appropriate fitness to drive and travel as required for the role. Current Driver’s license is required.
