JOB DESCRIPTION

Popeye Motor Launches is a cruise operator on The River Torrens, well known for the popular cruise experiences of general day cruises for tourists and locals, private functions, Popeye High Teas, Gin Cruises and KIS Tasting Tours.
We are currently recruiting for our fleet of 3 commercial vessels for the position of casual Skipper / Captain.

In this role you will work as a member of our onboard team alongside other marine crew members such as Deckhands, Engineers and fellow Skippers.
In this role you will be reporting to the General Manager/Office Manager.

This position will entail working on the sightseeing cruise casually over the week, with extra function work between 3 to 15 hours per week available. We are open all year except for an August closure. Hours differ depending on the season and the amount of sightseeing cruises run per day. In school holidays there are more shifts available as we run multiple boats.
The ideal applicant would be available to work a rotating roster as our business operates 7 days a week, with weekend and public holiday availability being crucial.

Responsibilities
- Performing daily thorough pre-start checklists including some simple maintenance when required
- Assisting with the set up of Popeye events or private functions
- Directing the deckhand in the in the safe delivery of all cruise products
- Whilst underway give an entertaining running commentary of history & local Adelaide knowledge
- Whilst underway assist the deckhand with watch-keeping and securing the vessel to the wharf
- Provide all guests with warm, engaging and professional customer service

Desired Qualities & Experience
- 1 year as a Coxswain
- Experience in the tourism industry
- Strong customer service skills
- AMSA Certificate Of Competency
- Responsible Person badge
- First Aid Certificate
- Working with children permit

Required
- Current SA Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- Coxswain or higher accreditation
