Job Summary: Supports and performs a Minister of Religion or a Religious Assistant duties for a Hindu Temple and Hindu community in performing a variety of Hindu religious functions associated with the practice of Hindu religion, including worship, spiritual guidance, and teaching.

Key duties:

• To perform all duties expected of a senior priest of a Hindu Temple.
• To conduct and or participate in pooja functions and to ensure that they are conducted strictly based on ancient Hindu Vedic Scriptures and Religious processes.
• To work with the management committee to identify new opportunity to further improvement of the temple and its processes.
• Promote the religious and cultural function and Hinduism to devotees to maintain the Hindu Culture at the highest standard at the Temple.
• Take responsibility for maintaining deities in the temple in accordance to the type of function that will take place.
• Assist to foresee the requirements for forthcoming events and make necessary sponsor arrangements in conjunction with the Darwin Hindu Temple, legal name: Hindu Society of NT Inc., ABN: 258 712 149 26 Management Committee.
• Provide training to youth who are interested in learning (a) Sanskrit, (b) Hindu Veda and (c) Hindu Priesthood.
• Promote Darwin Hindu Temple to Hindu Devotees.

Academic criteria:

• Must be trained in Hindu Sanskrit scriptures through a four or five year structured training course at a religious school or a Gurukulam.
