The purpose of the Front of House Supervisor is to oversee the delivery of catered Events and service at the QAG Cafe or GOMA Cafe Bistro, other Gallery Food and Beverage (F&B) outlets as required including the temporary satellite F&B stations and may also oversee GOMA Restaurant. QAGOMA F&B Outlets and Events have become recognised by staff and patrons for its high level of personal service, with many customers returning due to the attentiveness of staff and quality of food. Delivering to this high standard is critical to the role, reflecting the Gallery’s reputation and brand. The Front of House Supervisor is responsible for the smooth running of service including overseeing staff, liaising with a diverse range of customers, communicating with Back of House staff, and ensuring a positive and satisfying customer experience.


  • Responsible for overseeing the sequence of service, ensuring the efficient delivery of food and beverage to customers, whilst maintaining excellence in customer service.
  • Able to work calmly and professionally under pressure
  • Oversee the presentation and service of banquet food and beverage products during their shift to ensure highest quality at all times.
  • To ensure all furniture and other equipment are correctly set, and in premium condition before the arrival of each guest and cleared after each event.
  • To make a positive impact, taking personal responsibility and initiative to resolve issues, always clearly communicating with guests and colleagues.
  • Maintain close contact with the Gallery's Team Leaders to ensure all security and risk management procedures are understood
  • Train and oversee Front of House staff in all areas of service, including identifying areas for improvement and monitoring performance.
  • Communicate effectively with staff of all levels including Front of House, Chefs all levels, Gallery colleagues and Senior Management as required.
  • Adhere to F&B outlet procedures including opening and closing procedures, cash handling policies, daily banking and the Gallery's Code of Conduct.
  • Adhere to compliance requirements including food safety and liquor licensing.
  • Other duties as required.


    To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate the following capabilities:
  • Must be an experienced Food and Beverage Supervisor with 2 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to train and oversee staff of all levels on all service points
  • Must have excellent organisational abilities in order to plan, deliver and execute flawless service
  • Must be able to work under pressure in a busy and fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a high standard of presentation and attention to hygiene.
  • Must have excellent communication and problem solving skills.
  • Must have adequate computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience in rostering systems, focusing on meeting target labour percentages required.
  • Must be innovative and focused on achieving quality outcomes to achieve the Gallery's objectives.
  • Must be able to execute high quality customer service to large numbers of diners during peak service times.
  • Must have current RSA or RMLV
  • Must have a certificate in food and hygiene training.
