About us 

COVID-19 Quarantine Victoria (CQV) is responsible for managing COVID-19 accommodation programs as part of Victoria's public health response to coronavirus. 

CQV is running three programs that support people to quarantine and self-isolate to help slow the spread of coronavirus in the community:

  • Mandatory quarantine for returned overseas travellers 

  • Emergency accommodation for community residents 

  • Frontline worker accommodation 

The Victorian Chief Health Officer has mandated that all returning overseas travellers arriving in Victoria must go into mandatory quarantine for 14 days from the day of their arrival to help prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). 

In addition, CQV is responsible for the operation of Victoria's Emergency Accommodation program for community members and their close contacts who have tested positive for COVID-19 and where an assessment has concluded that there are no other suitable alternative accommodation options for self-isolation. 

Infection control and prevention is the primary objective of the mandatory quarantine and emergency accommodation programs. 

About the role 

As a Resident Support Officer, your day-to-day duties will include: 

  • ensuring a safe environment for people who are required to enter a compulsory period of quarantine at the accommodation site 

  • escorting returned travellers from the airport to their accommodation, and for approved exercise or any other approved purposes 

  • undertaking the transfer process of returned travellers to and from approved sites under the program 

  • supporting the COVID-19 screening process by undertaking temperature screening at accommodation admission and departure points, and conducting identification checks to ensure only authorised personnel enter the facility 

  • communicating with people in an effective and empathetic manner, whilst maintaining physical distancing measures and good hygiene practices 

  • mitigating risk to ensure client safety is maintained, operational instructions are adhered to, and resident satisfaction is maintained 

  • assisting returned travellers by delivering mail and the retrieval of personal deliveries to the accommodation site during their stay 

  • working collaboratively with other accommodation site staff members, authorised officers, medical staff, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure mandatory quarantine residents are compliant with the COVID Accommodation Program 

  • reporting issues to the line manager or team leader for resolution as required

Support Officer coverage is required 24/7. A degree of flexibility will be required as you will be expected to work a seven-day rotating roster across a 76-hour fortnight, plus any overtime as required.

These roles are for a fixed-term contract basis until 30 November 2021. You will be assigned to an inner Melbourne, CBD, or airport accommodation facility to meet operational needs. 

You will be required to comply with infection control procedures, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). To ensure the safety of our staff and their family and friends, all new staff commencing will be COVID tested prior to commencement and will be subject to mandatory testing whilst employed. 

About you 

As our ideal candidate, you will have: 

  • customer service and/or security experience in a fast-paced client facing or operational environment 

  • excellent communication and conflict management skills 

  • the ability to demonstrate professionalism and good judgement in addressing and solving issues and problems

A qualification in healthcare, security, emergency management, customer service, social work, community services or welfare would be advantageous.
