Assist in the provision of a high quality nutrition and food service to patients/clients of the hospital by assisting in the preparation, plating, presentation, and delivery of meals/food services in accordance with established nutritional, dietetic and quality procedures whilst adhering to and maintaining Queensland Health’s guidelines.

About the Role

  • Participate in a range of operational duties as outlined on daily duty statements and procedures, or as directed by a Supervisor including but not limited to: food preparation, stock receivable and storage, stock control, serving on the plating line and tray assembly, trolley delivery to ward, serving meals and beverages to patients, buffet style meal provision, patient tray stripping, pot wash duties and general cleaning, and operation of a flight and pass-through dishwasher.

  • Responsible for keeping an imprest system and the stock control of patient food supplies in the ward kitchen areas.

  • Responsible for cleaning duties in allocated areas as part of direct duties or to assist staff. This can include ward kitchens, main kitchen, floors, store rooms and cold and freezer rooms.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to prioritise duties within designated timeframes.

  • Ability to communicate with patients/clients, visitors and work with staff in a harmonious manner and as part of a team.

  • Ability to use technological devices to monitor work processes and workflow.

  • Ability to prepare sandwiches and salads to order or from production reports using established recipes.
