About us

A new hotel opening soon in Fortitude Valley is looking for a Maintenance Manager, we welcome all guests into our neighbourhood and share our love for the place we call home. We inspire them to explore and discover different perspectives, so everyone one of them can create new stories of their own. It is a boutique lifestyle brand that is truly inspired by its neighbourhood – from striking boutique design, memorable dining experiences with a local twist, to our friendly staff who always have the inside track on what’s happening in the area - we endeavour to give every guest that walks through our door a truly authentic taste of our local. The hotel comprises of 146 guest rooms, ground floor street fronted restaurant and bar, gymnasium and a roof top bar with panoramic views of Brisbane. There is a dedicated function centre on the mezzanine floor with 3 function rooms and kitchen. The complex also boasts 2 floors of luxury residential apartments and 2 floors of commercial office space. Are you the person to bring this great brand to life in Australasia?

Your day to day

People

  • Manage everyday activities, plan and assign work ensuring you always have the right staffing numbers
  • Communicate with all hotel department heads to stay informed of maintenance needs and ensure timely responses to requests
  • Develop your team and improve their performance through coaching and feedback, and create performance and development goals for colleagues - recognise good performance
  • Train your team to make sure they deliver with compliance and to the standards we expect and have the tools they need to work efficiently

Financial

  • Help prepare the departmental budget and financial plans financial and operational plans for the hotel
  • Monitor budget and control expenses with a focus on energy management, preventive maintenance, and capital planning
  • Lead hotel renovations and other projects, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely completion of projects within budget

Guest Experience

  • Understand and respond to customers’ needs and ensure a high level of guest satisfaction
  • Implement and carry out a maintenance and preventive programme to ensure the hotel is maintained and in service for guests (example: lighting, refrigeration, heating, air-conditioning, water treatment systems, and pools)

Responsible Business

  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for guests, team members and hotel assets in compliance with policies and procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain good working relations with outside contacts
  • Comply with federal, state and local laws regarding health, safety services
  • Maintain a focus and commitment to operating a “green” hotel
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • May also serve as manager on duty

What we need from you
  • At least two years of experience in general building maintenance or construction, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hotel Maintenance or facilities management experience preferred.
  • You’ll be familiar with Microsoft Office, a building management programme and/or any other reporting tools like HotSos, Opera.
  • On top of building equipment and hand tools, you’ll have a working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrics and preventative maintenance procedures
  • Fitness – you’ll be on your feet most of the day, and will need to bend and kneel a lot.
  • Compliance – Thorough understanding of Australian Standards for fire & building compliance.
  • Great communication skills, you’ll be warm, welcoming and easy to talk to
