We’re looking for a Food Service Assistant, who is a team player and can provide excellent customer service by taking patient orders and delivering food as well as taking a record of the meal consumption of patients at Wyong Hospital. You will be a dedicated and collaborative individual who enjoys contributing to a positive team culture to deliver tasks and duties in a timely manner.

Reporting to the Food Service Supervisor or Manager, you will also be responsible for all other related food handling tasks such as preparation and assembly of food items, restocking and cleaning of kitchen areas.

What you'll be doing

HealthShare supplies a comprehensive Food Service to NSW Health Hospitals. The position of Food Service Assistant exists within Food Services department of HealthShare and the primary purpose of this position is the order taking, assembly, preparation and distribution of patient meals, recording intake, ware-washing and other associated duties.

  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand and carry out written instructions in English.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a customer service environment.
  • Good Communication Skills.
  • Understanding of Safe Food Handling.
  • Ability and/or willingness to learn the use of technology such as Tablets and touch screen computers to appropriately capture patient meal orders and intake and log completion of activities as per duty schedule respectively.
  • Ability to work a 7 day rotating roster, including both morning and afternoon shifts including weekends and public holidays.
